Respiratory Care Practitioners – Duke University Hospital

The scope of practice for a Duke RCP includes (but is not limited to) patient assessment, mechanical ventilation management by protocol (to include conventional ventilation as well as HFOV and HFJV), airway management procedures, oxygen and specialty gas administration (e.g., heliox, nitric oxide), medicated aerosol administration, and radial arterial puncture and cannulation. In addition, a select group of RCPs are trained to manage ECMO for pediatric patients.

Duke Hospital currently has Respiratory Care Practitioner position vacancies on both the adult and pediatric clinical teams.

Pediatric Expansion: Construction is now underway on a 13-bed pediatric intensive care unit for cardiac patients. The new unit is scheduled to open in January 2009 and will increase the number of pediatric critical care beds. Additional RCPs will be needed to provide clinical services to these patients - the Respiratory Care Services is currently seeking RCPs to fill these vacancies.

NICU Respiratory Therapist

The Women’s Hospital of Greensboro, part of Moses Cone Health System, provides a full range of health services to all women including maternity, gynecological, surgical and diagnostic services and a Level III Intensive Care Nursery and a Center for Maternal Fetal Care.

We are currently seeking a Full-Time NICU Respiratory Therapist (7p-7a) for the Respiratory Department. NICU RTs are a valuable member of the patient care team and often called upon to perform a wide variety of routine and advanced forms of therapy including: Attending high risk deliveries, performing intubations, inserting arterial lines, obtaining and analyzing blood gases, using high flow nasal cannulas, administering surfactant therapy and using conventional and oscillatory modes of ventilation as well as administering nitric oxide when necessary.

Minimum requirements include: graduation from a 2-year school for Respiratory Therapy. Must be licensed by the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board (NCRCB) as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP). New graduates or other board eligible candidates must attain the CRT credential within their 6-month probationary period and the RRT credential within one year of hire date unless otherwise specified.
