RESPIRATORY CARE PRACTITIONER II

Reporting to the Cardiopulmonary Lab Supervisor, the professional we select for this important role will deliver cardiopulmonary care as directed by the physician, to hospital outpatients in compliance with all mandatory and hospital-wide standards. This individual will transport and set up equipment and administer therapies within 10 minutes on all STAT orders and perform scheduled treatments for routine orders in a timely manner.

Required Credentials:

  • One or more years of experience in the field of respiratory therapy.
  • Registration as a respiratory therapist in the state of North Carolina.
  • Completion of a respiratory therapy program.
  • Extensive working knowledge of respiratory therapy-related procedures, machinery, materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Working knowledge and basic understanding of the needs of neonatal, adolescent, pediatric, and geriatric patients and the cultural needs of all patients.
  • Ability to frequently pull and push items weighing up to 200 pounds, and lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Respiratory Therapist

Pender Memorial Hospital

The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing direct patient care to patients in all clinical area, including evaluations and treatments according to procedural guidelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Administers to patients in age group of neonate through geriatric a variety of simple and complex respiratory and cardiology modalities.
  • Maintains appropriate patient records/documentation.  Records documentation at time procedure is performed.
  • Cleans, disinfects, assembles, calibrates, maintains respiratory and cardiology equipment and accessories. Evaluates equipment for proper and safe function.  Reports malfunctions to director.
  • Performs arterial puncture and analyzes sample according to procedure guidelines.
  • Interacts with co-workers, nurses, physicians, other hospital personnel to optimize continuum of care for patient being treated.
  • Participates in ongoing performance improvements within the department by offering ideas to improve quality of patient care and overall efficiency of the department.
  • Responds to Code Blue and other emergencies that could require Respiratory support.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrates standards of performance (ownership, teamwork, communication, compassion) that support satisfaction and principles of service excellence.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED and completion of an AMA accredited respiratory care educational program.
  • Must be licensed by the State of North Carolina. Must be registered or certified or eligible by the National Board of Respiratory Care.
  • Current BLS
  • 2 years prior experience preferred

Director of Clinical Education – Respiratory Therapy (Full-time Faculty)

The Director of Clinical Education (DCE) is a 9 + 3 month professional, credentialed educator responsible for the organization, administration, continuous review, planning, development, and general effectiveness for clinical experiences. The DCE is responsible for providing a quality learning experiences for Rockingham Community College (RCC) students and planning, organizing, promoting, and teaching appropriate courses for RCC. The DCE is expected to perform all instruction-related duties in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies, and procedures of the College, the North Carolina Community College System, and in accordance with the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Therapy Care (CoARC).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally and nationally accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Minimum four years’ of full time experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with two years’ experience in clinical respiratory care; minimum two years in a teaching experience in an accredited respiratory therapy program, either as an appointed faculty member, or as a clinical preceptor.

Clinical Assistant Professor, Neurodiagnostics and Sleep Science

The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, the fastest growing institution in the UNC System accounting for 61 percent of the total System growth over the past seven years, seeks a Clinical Assistant Professor for its Neurodiagnostics and Sleep Science program. UNC Charlotte, North Carolina’s urban research university (www.uncc.edu), has an enrollment of more than 29,000 students including 5,400 graduate students enrolled in 64 master’s and 23 doctoral programs, and a faculty and staff of over 3,000.

Charlotte is a thriving and vibrant metropolitan center, with a 10-county metropolitan statistical area population approximating 2.3 million. It is a major banking center, and boasts two major hospital systems one of which is the nation’s 3rd largest public nonprofit healthcare system. The region offers a diverse population, an enviable array of artistic and cultural offerings, thriving professional sports franchises, and an excellent year-round climate. This nine month position will begin August, 2018.

The Department: The Department of Kinesiology (http://kinesiology.uncc.edu) is a dynamic academic unit with an interdisciplinary focus housed within the College of Health and Human Services. Our programs include: B.S. in Exercise Science (CAAHEP-accredited); M.S. in Kinesiology (CAAHEP-accredited); B.S. in Athletic Training (CAATE-accredited); B.S. in Respiratory Therapy (CoARC Provisional Accreditation) and M.S. in Respiratory Care (CoARC Provisional Accreditation); and B.S. in NDSS (CAAHEP-accredited). The NDSS program is offered by UNC Charlotte with collaborative coursework shared with The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (https://www.med.unc.edu/ahs/ndss). The Department participates in the Health Services Research doctoral program and an interdisciplinary PhD in Biological Sciences.

Qualifications: A successful candidate must possess a Master’s degree at minimum in a discipline related to sleep medicine, health science, education, or other health related field. The RPSGT credential or eligibility to achieve this credential within 2 years of appointment is required, as is clinical experience in polysomnography, respiratory therapy, and/or neurodiagnostic technology. Evidence of teaching experience preferably at the undergraduate level or in a PSG, END, or RT associate degree program. Experience with distance education instruction is desired, as is additional professional certifications (such as RRT, R.EEG T., R.EP T., CNIM, R.NCS T., etc.), but are not required.

In this unique position, the successful candidate will be able to coordinate the UNC Charlotte NDSS offerings and student activities with those offered through UNC Chapel Hill, and, will teach in both the NDSS and BSRT programs.
